HeHealth, a Singapore-based health startup, has reportedly launched an app that helps men check for STDs (sexually transmitted diseases).

The app has an in-built penis-checking AI tool that enables users to submit photos anonymously and get instant results regarding potential concerns. The app’s AI analysis will generate the results and provide information to users.

It has been claimed that HeHealth can also identify rare conditions like cancer. The app will help users seek community support by connecting with others facing the same problems. It is expected to also launch a telehealth feature for users to discuss with doctors privately.

Prior to its official launch, HeHealth stated that it conducted a live testing period for a year and a half and performed over 1,000 analyses for users with doctor-verified results.

HeHealth Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder Yudara Kularathne stated that the app was developed to facilitate STD screenings efficiently and comfortably.

Kularanthe cited that many users discretely seek information due to the heavy stigmatization of STDs, thereby potentially ending up with inaccurate and unreliable information leading to delays in testing and treatment of these STD patients and worsening their livelihoods.  

The CEO hopes that the company will normalize STD screenings and empower patients to seek professional diagnosis and treatment.

According to MyHealth, doctors might perform urine, blood, or swab tests to check for sexually transmitted diseases.

The health startup claims in its FAQs that it does not collect any personal information such as phone numbers, names, and email addresses. Users are needed to create an anonymous account to track their posting history and screening on the app.

Currently, HeHealth is offering free STD screenings through the app which can be downloaded on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
