Hindalco & Aequs ink strategic agreement in commercial aerospace industry

Aequs Pvt. Ltd., a foremost aerospace parts maker, is entering into a strategic alliance with Hindalco Industries Ltd., one of the top firms for integrated aluminum products worldwide, for joint business development and long-term collaboration in the commercial aerospace sector.

As per sources, the collaboration leverages the market presence, capabilities, and industry knowledge of the respective parties for the manufacture, development, and qualification of extrusions needed for other Aequs customers and commercial aerospace OEMs.

Aravind Melligeri, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman, Aequs stated that the recent strategic agreement marks a breakthrough for the Indian aerospace industry by further combining the whole value chain to provide 100 per cent in-country value add.

Aravind commented that the alliance creates a strategic value for its clients by improving manufacturing reliability and sustainability across the country.

Reportedly, with the introduction of aluminum extrusions to its product range in collaboration with Hindalco, Aequs has bolstered the one-stop solution strategy with a completely localized aerospace supply chain that is ecofriendly and sustainable.

For the uninitiated, Aequs operates the biggest aero machining unit across India with nearly one million machining hours delivered every year from the Belagavi Aerospace Cluster.

Not to mention, the campus also possesses co-located capabilities for end-to-end manufacturing ranging from surface treatments to forgings, and intricate aerostructure assemblies.

Apparently, Hindalco is a foremost player in the extrusions sector in India with strong presence throughout the aluminum value chain from extrusions to bauxite mining.

It operates 3 extrusion plants in the country - Alupuram, Renukoot, and Kuppam, and is well-known for a wide range of alloys such as special alloys and hard alloys for the aerospace department.

All these units have well-established manufacturing processes for QA systems and die developments refined over 5 decades.
