Electrolux announces re-entry into the Indian consumer durables industry

Electrolux, a Sweden-based home appliances maker, has decided to re-enter the Indian market after nearly 4 years and has reportedly inaugurated its first experience centre in New Delhi.

As per reports, the brand is all set to introduce a full range of solutions for fabric care (dryers and washers), refrigeration, conditioning and air purification, cooking, dishwashing, and vacuum cleaners in a phased way from July to October 2022.

Electrolux mentioned in a statement that the launch indicates the firm’s entry into the Indian consumer durables market through an omni-channel retail perspective.

Previously, Electrolux inked licencing contracts with Videocon for selling its products in the country. However, the agreement was terminated in 2018 after Videocon embarked on financial troubles.

Sudhir Patil, Commercial Director at Electrolux India, revealed that the Indian market is forever evolving, and this step is the first towards the brand’s aggressive business strategy in the country.

Sudhir commented that being a consumer-based brand, it delivers top-quality solutions to cater to the consumer needs and the team is positive about the better living and sustainable experience they will provide their customers.

Reportedly, Electrolux is getting its air conditioners produced in India via an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) collaborator. The other products will be imported from the firm’s manufacturing units across Italy, Poland, Thailand, and Germany.

Not to mention, the firm is aiming toward sustained growth as the coronavirus pandemic has ignited increased requirements for solutions and products that promote hygiene, health, and sustainable practices.

Electrolux claims that the consumer durables sector is anticipated to observe sustainable growth in the upcoming years as the focus on in-home appliances along with increasing incomes deepens.

For the record, the Swedish conglomerate also owns brands such as Frigidaire and AEG and sells nearly 60 million household products across 120 markets.
